WHEN? THIS FRIDAY @ 1030 PM (6/23) & THIS SATURDAY @ 1030 PM (6/24)

Catch 23 Improv is a format from our friends from the North. Three teams (Paul/Charley; Adam/Brian; Tim/Liam) will compete to perform four scenes that will total EXACTLY 23 minutes. I, Sir Mookie of York, will be in charge of running this fiasco! Scenes will be scored by the judge (Judge Swithun) AND the audience! So, support your favorite team and see a unique and awesome Theatresports variation!

Parrot Theatre is our take on Phillip Johnstone's GORILLA THEATRE. This time, we'll be supported by an awesome bird from the Senecca Park Zoo! Directors will take turns creating the improv scenes using the players. Then, you as an audience must vote on whether they deserve to be commended or punished for that scene! The winner will get to spend a fun-filled weekend with the Parrot on the Island of Tuvalu!!

HOW MUCH? Tickets at Geva are ALWAYS only $7 for Improv. Plus we have tons of Bar Specials and a great merchandise table!!

WHY YES! I'm glad you asked. In honor of our partnership with the Senecca Park Zoo, we'll be donig an EXTRA SPECIAL gig there on Saturday Morning - 6/24 at 1230 PM! WHERE? Right in front of the orangutan cage!

It'll be awesome!!

So, come out and see some funny improv this weekend!!

Shows this weekend!
It's been a long, quiet winter but GCI has been brewing trouble and is ready to pop the cork, pass the bottle and let loose!

FRIDAY February 24th
Host - Mike
Judge - Swithun
Team 1 - Joanna, Liam, and Adam
Team 2 - Beki, Brian, and Mookie

Barprov - Tim, Joanna and Mike

SATURDAY February 25th
Host - Adam
Judge - Joanna
Team 1 - Mike, Mookie, Tim
Team 2 - Swithun, Paul, Liam

BARPROV - WHAT'S THAT?! Well, it's GCI's newest format! Barprov is Geva Comedy Improv's first foray into the improvisational theatre format known as conversational improv. The improvisors will bartend -- really truly bartend with drinks and everything -- in the Cafe at Geva Theatre Center for a limited number of 21-and-over guests. Throughout the show, they will also explore current events, personal histories, perhaps even offer the audience that sage bartender advice that people go to bars for. Similar shows -- Bassprov in Chicago and Dinerprov in Atlanta -- have found devoted fans, and now Geva Comedy Improv wants to let Rochester see what conversational improv is all about! It will be great. Starts at Midnight after the shows on 2/24!~

INDEED. Come see Engaged Mookie. Come see Tim the Man. Come see New Job Adam. So much to see. So little time~!

Geva Comedy Improv - Fun Fun Fun!
Last night Geva Comedy Improv presented week four of "FIASCO: Lake Boat!" out at SUNY Brockport. It was an interesting show because our numbers were down to just: Tim, Josie, Chris, Mike, Brian and Paul along with our narrator Adam. This was actually our strongest outing and we all had a really good time. On a suggestion from Mr Litz, we used the convention where we started the story with everyone in danger - in this case, the entire crew was locked in Supply Room #3 and Bradley had assumed Temporary Captainship of what was becoming a disaster! Then, using flashbacks we revealed how we got there. It was a terrific device that really helped facilitate the entire adventure. Surprises included:
* Steve (Brian D.) revealing that he was a robot.
* Brad (Chris H.) revealing that he had Gulf War Syndrome and was an ex-marine (who took Tae-bo).
* Rosemarie (Josie S.) revealing that she was pregnant through immaculate conception.
* Captain Barney (Paul N.) revealing that he had taken his daughter Rosemarie away from her mother at a young age.
* Gerald (Tim G.) revealing he was not from the South at all, but rather actually named Tom Sawyer Johnson and hailed from Cleveland, Ohio.
* Frank (Mike C.) revealing that he was dead when Steve snapped his neck.
........and much, much more!

So, tune in next week at the Student Commons Building - Room 112 (something like that, you'll see the table set up and the ticket sellers) for the LAST episode of this season of FIASCO: LAKE BOAT~! Tickets are $1 for students, $2 for non-students and the show starts at 930 PM on Monday Night out at SUNY BROCKPORT. If you need more details, let me know! It should be a sold-out extravaganza with tons and tons of twists & turns. Dontchadaremissit!

ALSO~! This weekend there is:
- GCI Show on Friday @ 1030 PM at Geva Theatre in Rochester, NY (Theatresports)
- GCI Show on Saturday @ 1030 PM at Geva Theatre in Rochester, NY (City Council Improv)

Tickets are only $7 and these shows are going to be amazing. COME AND SEE!~

I've taken this opportunity to write a HYUGE LJ entry to all of you
because I wanted to tell everyone about GEVA COMEDY IMPROV's 25.5 HOUR

It's going on _next_ weekend. It'll start at 10:30 PM on Friday Night
(10/21) and we'll keep going until the sun comes up and goes back down
again. At 10:30 PM on Saturday Night (10/22) we're going to start our
last show and hopefully, we'll all still be mostly sane! In between
these shows, we're going to be doing showcases of all the different
improv techniques and styles we've learned in the past few years.

This is our massive kick-off to Season III and we'd love for each and
every one of you to stop down to Geva Theatre (75 Woodbury Blvd) in
downtown Rochester. We'll be performing on the Nextstage. (And yes,
there will be cots set up if you need a nap.)

You can go to http://www.gevacomedyimprov.org to see a FULL SCHEDULE
of all the things we have planned. I'll give you a quick overview:

10:30 PM: Theatresports - the classic vanilla of improv. ($7 for this.)

(you can see all three shows below for a one-time cost of $7!)
12:30 AM: Improv Karoke (your chance to get on stage with us!)
2:00 AM: Nellis Presley
4:00 AM: Campfire Improv

(it costs just $7 to see both the shows below)
6:00 AM: Microtro (special guest, University of Rocheter's "In Between
the Lines")
8:00 AM: The Morning Musical

($7 gets you two shows of improv amazement)
10:00 AM: Gorilla Theatre
12:00 PM: Brittaprov

($7 for two shows? Not a bad deal! Two Original GCI formats.)
2:00 PM: Swithun's Happy Fun Kid's Show
4:00 PM: City Council Improv

($7 for two more brand-spanking-new never-before-seen GCI formats
6:00 PM: Joanna's Character Improv (see the website for details on how
to enter your character for the show!)
8:00 PM: Pilot Episode of GCI's new Soap Opera, "LAKE BOAT"

($7 to see the kicker)
10:30 PM: We ate our pizza. We went nutty. Now, it's Round II of
Theatre Sports - 24 hours later. Can we survive?

Visit the website for descriptions of the shows. Now, we're going to
be running all day Midnight to Midnight on Saturday so let us
accomodate you! Whenever you're free: come on down!! Don't want to
see a late show? Catch the early afternoon! I highly recommend "City
Council Improv" as that was an original creation by Mookie & Brian
Daniel. It recently premiered at Daily Perks Coffeehouse and received
an incredible reception.

So, you have a week. Save up your pennies. Figure out your favorite
kind of coffee. Dig out those long johns. If you're zany enough, for
$30 you can buy an unlimited pass. But, if you stay for the whole
time - all 25.5 hours - you can win a pass to every GCI event for the
rest of the Season. That's right - no more paying for Season III GCI
Tickets for you! You even get two naps. Interested? Everything is
on the website, hombre!

I hope to see some of your smiling faces down at Geva.
Please come to Geva NEXT weekend!!!
